Principal's Welcome: Middle School

I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as Principal of Big Lake Middle School, and every year I am excited about the incredible journey that lies ahead for our students, families, and the entire community.

After years as a dedicated classroom teacher, I felt a calling to impact the entire educational system while staying connected to students. This desire for a more significant influence on students' lives in a systems-level role motivated me to take on the responsibilities of a principal.

We have a goal of ensuring all students look back on their time at Big Lake with positive memories as they grow into their best selves. Our school team is deeply invested in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to support our students during their challenging, formative teenage years and our dedicated staff work tirelessly to create an environment where students can thrive with Hornet PRIDE!

Our community has a unique blend of a small-town feel coupled with abundant opportunities and experiences of a larger town. Our district, community, students, and families contribute to the vibrant tapestry that makes Big Lake Schools a truly exceptional place.

Our Middle School approach to instruction is through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This approach makes us a stronger and more inclusive educational institution where students can flourish academically.

As we embark on these Middle School years, I look forward to building strong connections with each of you. Together, let's make Big Lake Middle School a place where every student's potential is unlocked, and the journey is filled with growth, achievement, and cherished memories.
